One tip I would suggest adding to the list: get Rabbit TV. While most streaming services charge you a monthly fee, Rabbit TV is only $10 a year. It offers a massive amount of TV shows and movies that are free to watch, and even includes live events. For anything that's not available for free, it will give you the option to legally buy or rent it. It can take some getting used to paying for some of the latest shows a al carte, but it's a massive savings over paying a hefty cable bill each month.

In reply to Marcos.

Hey Marcos,
You're absolutely right. If you watch a whole lot of TV/movies online (more than about 100 hours of HD content/month), you may run into your data cap, and your ISP may charge you a fee. If you watch more than that per month, you're probably going to have to pay some money no matter where you go to get your content.

That said, not all ISPs cap their data. Here's a helpful chart that lets you know which ISPs do and do not cap their data, what those caps are, and how much an overage costs.

If you look at the costs associated with those overage charges and look at the amount of content you consume, you should be able to tell whether your cable bill is still worth it. If you're watching somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 hours of TV/day, then cable might be worth it for sure.

Thanks for the comment!

It all sounds great, but you don't touch on a very important issue: Data Cap. If you drop cable all together, and you watch TV via internet only, you are sure to reach the 250 GB data cap that most cable subscribers place in one's account. I have searched and I cannot find an internet service that offers No Data Cap. Do you know something I don't?

Thanks
